WSG API Platform
WSG API Platform is a metered business-data API. Four engines — local business leads, site audits, small-business capital matching, and formation and licensing checklists — sit behind one gateway with one base URL and one key, and partners resell them inside their own products.
What it is
The wholesale side of the business. Four data engines — local business leads, site audits, small-business capital matching, and formation and licensing checklists — sit behind one gateway with one base URL and one key. Partners build and sell the front end; the platform meters the usage.
What it does
- Leads, audits, funding matching, and formation checklists in one API.
- Per-call metering, plan limits, and per-customer keys.
- Partners never hold the upstream engine keys.
- Non-exclusive — the same engines license to more than one partner.
How it works
This is the wholesale side of the business. Four engines sit behind one gateway: local business leads, site audits, a small-business capital index with a rule-based matcher, and a formation-and-licensing checklist engine. A partner integrates once — one base URL, one key — instead of four times.
The gateway does the unglamorous part. It authenticates the call, checks the plan, applies the rate limit, meters the usage, and proxies to whichever engine answers. Customers never hold the upstream engine credentials, so a partner’s compromised key cannot be turned into direct access to the data behind it.
The commercial shape is deliberate: partners build and sell the front end, and the platform is paid for what actually gets used. Licensing is non-exclusive, because the same four engines serve an additional partner at almost no extra infrastructure cost — which is a better hedge against a slow start than a monthly minimum would be.
Two of the engines have consumer-facing siblings on this register: the leads engine is what Bird Dog Markets sells, and the audit engine is what Sentinel Audits sells. A partner who wants that capability inside their own product licenses it here instead of rebuilding it, and gets the same data the retail products run on.
The first partner is a non-profit business association reselling to its member businesses, which is why the pricing is pure usage with no monthly floor — an organisation like that should not be paying a retainer for months in which its members do not call the API. New partners are onboarded with a zero-rated sandbox key and the documentation, so their developers can build against the real endpoints while nothing bills.
